You know, It amazes me that some people still think all of this joy stuff is a bunch of baloney…..
Science continues to prove that happy = good.
Check this out:
Laughter is nearly as powerful as exercise at boosting your bod. A Loma Linda University study found that it raised immunoglobulins – say that fast three times – by 14 percent. That means it’s been proven that laughter increases your antibodies by about 14%. I guess that means laughter is like having health insurance – only cheaper.
In another study, a cardiologist at Maryland Medical Center concluded that the act of laughing increases circulation nearly as much as a session on the treadmill. It’s nice to know we can LAUGH our asses off, too.
And finally, a study at UCLA found that kids could tolerate having their hands submerged in ice water for 40% longer while they were watching comedies. I’m not sure what this says for watching dramas, but this finding tells me that humor lets you endure things longer. Hey, I’ll take it.
Sooooo, laughing makes you smarter, healthier, and tolerant. And it’s free. Cool!
But If you’re not equipped with your own funny bone, then improvise: watch a funny movie, go to a comedy club, call your friend who always makes you laugh, surf the Hallmark aisle at your local card store.
