There is Plenty for Everyone

There is a wonderful explanation of the Cycle of Abundance in “The Trance of Scarcity”, written by Victoria Castle. I share it with you today because it is so aligned with the spirit of Planet Joyride. Thanks to Victoria for describing it so beautifully (excerpts below):

Ridin' the Waves

A girlfriend and I were talking tonight about the wild waves and changing tides that life offers up.

Holy crap.

Those hard times that show up in surprising swells and crests and bang you around like a rip tide on acid. They shake your foundation, throw you off balance, and curl over you like monster waves in a not so “Perfect Storm.”

Yeah, those.

They’re brutal. UNLESS you remember to be resilient and flexible and nimble as things are rockin' and rollin'. Do that, and you can surf right through those perilous waters, hangin’ your own version of ten.

Joyridin' at Work - Really!

Oh sometimes Life just cracks me up!

Today I was at a client’s office and they had just gone through a computer migration to another system. All of the tech peeps were on-site helping users acclimate to the new system. One gal who came into my office there was wearing a name badge that said “Joy” so, of course, I said, “Joy! What a great name! I have an entire business dedicated to joy.”

“Really?” she asked. You could tell that was the first time she’d heard THAT!

Life, Death & Forgiveness

This parable below was sent to me by my friend, Stan. Stan is famous for a bawdy sense of humor, so of course I am on his email joke distribution list. But Stan’s beloved wife Carole died last November, so Stan has been grieving and working through the challenges that come with great loss.

I haven’t gotten many funny emails from Stan these past few months.

Recently Stan resurfaced on my email radar. He was communicating again, only this time his email carried a tender and important message for healing…which is why I share it with you now. Thank you, Stan!

Joyriding in Seat 2 D

This morning I hopped on a plane to PHX to go meet with clients and to see my dad over the holiday weekend. It was a flight like any other: long security lines, shoes off, shoes on, wheeling to the gate, reading to pass the time spent waiting that inevitably seems twice as long as it is. But I was eager to go see my dad and celebrate with him, especially since it was Easter weekend. I also thought of my mom, Joyce, and said a little blessing for her.

The Simple Joys

I lead an incredibly busy life, by choice. So on the occasional Sunday when I create a bit of downtime, I am reminded of the power of simple joys. They offer such a delicious counterpoint to the wilder, more daredevil, back-to-back busy kind of joys that I make a point of seeking.

Not today.

Today is the Farmer’s Market for that amazing Aged Gouda cheese, the perfect tulips and lilacs, and fresh Brussels Sprouts that, when sautéed in olive oil, garlic and a ton of ground pepper, compel me to stand at the stove and snack as they brown to perfection.
